چکیده

Suppose one can observe a Gaussian nonhomogeneous process with a continuous time parameter. At an unknown time the observed process may leave its standard state, the drift of the process changes and becomes equal to a nonrandom function. Subject to a restriction on the rate of false alarms, one wants to detect the change \as soon as possible". We investigate Page's and Shiryaev's sequential detection procedures for essentially nonhomogeneous case. Inequalities and asymptotic approximations for the operating characteristics of these procedures are presented. The relative eeciency of the procedures is obtained for \asymptotic power nonhomogeneity".

Numerical Comparison of Cusum and Shiryaev-roberts Procedures for Detecting Changes in Distributions

The CUSUM procedure is known to be optimal for detecting a change in distribution under a minimax scenario, whereas the Shiryaev-Roberts procedure is optimal for detecting a change that occurs at a distant time horizon. As a simpler alternative to the conventional Monte Carlo approach, we propose a numerical method for the systematic comparison of the two detection schemes in both settings, i.e...

Design and Comparison of Shiryaev-Roberts and CUSUM-Type Change-Point Detection Procedures

We address a simple changepoint detection problem where observations are i.i.d. before and after the change with known preand post-change distributions. For this setting, the CUSUM test is known to be optimal in the minimax setting for Lorden’s essential supremum metric, whereas the Shiryaev-Roberts procedure is optimal for detecting a change that occurs at a distant time horizon. At the same t...

Nearly Optimal Change-Point Detection with an Application to Cybersecurity

We address the sequential change-point detection problem for the Gaussian model where baseline distribution is Gaussian with variance 2 and mean such that 2 = a , where a > 0 is a known constant; the change is in from one known value to another. First, we carry out a comparative performance analysis of four detection procedures: the Cumulative Sum (CUSUM) procedure, the Shiryaev–Roberts (SR) pr...

Minimax optimality in robust detection of a disorder time in poisson rate

We consider the minimax quickest detection problem of an unobservable time of change in the rate of an inhomogeneous Poisson process. We seek a stopping rule that minimizes the robust Lorden criterion, formulated in terms of the number of events until detection, both for the worst-case delay and the false alarm constraint. In the Wiener case, such a problem has been solved using the so-called c...

State-of-the-Art in Bayesian Changepoint Detection

We provide a brief overview of the state-of-the-art in quickest (sequential) changepoint detection and present some new results on asymptotic and numerical analysis of main competitors such as the CUSUM, Shiryaev–Roberts, and Shiryaev detection procedures in a Bayesian context.
